Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 28 August 2026
These Terms & Conditions (the “Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Held Accountable website and services. By creating an account or using the service you agree to them. Please read them carefully — section 10 limits our liability to you.
1. Agreement to These Terms
These Terms form a binding agreement between you and Held Accountable. By creating an account, accessing the website or using any part of the service, you confirm that you accept these Terms and agree to be bound by them. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
If you are using the service on behalf of a company or other organisation, you confirm that you have authority to bind that organisation, and “you” refers to that organisation.
2. Eligibility & Your Account
You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into a contract to use the service. You agree to provide accurate account information and to keep it up to date.
- You are responsible for everything that happens under your account.
- Keep your sign-in credentials confidential and do not share them.
- Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been used without your permission.
- We may suspend or close an account that we reasonably believe breaches these Terms.
3. The Service
Held Accountable monitors news and market information against the topics and holdings you choose, and surfaces what looks materially relevant to you. The service is provided for information only.
We may add, change or remove features at any time. We aim to give reasonable notice of significant changes, but we do not guarantee that any particular feature will remain available.
4. No Investment Advice
Nothing in the service is investment, financial, legal or tax advice, and nothing in it is a recommendation to buy, sell or hold any security. We are not a broker, an investment adviser or a fiduciary, and we do not take your personal circumstances into account.
You are solely responsible for your own investment decisions and should seek advice from a licensed professional before acting. Past performance is not a guide to future results, and the value of investments can fall as well as rise.
5. Subscriptions, Billing & Cancellation
Paid plans are billed in advance on a recurring basis until cancelled. By subscribing you authorise us to charge your payment method for each renewal at the then-current price.
- Renewal — subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless cancelled before it ends.
- Cancellation — you can cancel at any time in your settings; access continues until the end of the period you have paid for.
- Price changes — we will give you advance notice before a price change takes effect, and you may cancel if you do not accept it.
- Refunds — payments are non-refundable except where the law requires otherwise.
- Taxes — prices exclude any applicable taxes, which are added where required.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree to use the service lawfully and not to misuse it. In particular, you must not:
- scrape, crawl, copy or resell any part of the service or its content;
- reverse engineer the service or attempt to extract its underlying models or data;
- interfere with the service, probe it for vulnerabilities, or circumvent any access control;
- use the service to break the law, infringe anyone’s rights, or engage in market abuse;
- upload malware, or anything unlawful, deceptive or abusive; or
- share your account with, or resell access to, anyone else.
7. Intellectual Property
The service, including its software, design, text and branding, belongs to Held Accountable or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property law. We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to use the service while your account is in good standing.
You keep ownership of the content you submit. You grant us a licence to host, process and display that content for the purpose of operating and improving the service.
8. Third-Party Content & Links
The service surfaces news, market data and other material produced by third parties, and may link to third-party sites. We do not control that material, we do not endorse it, and we are not responsible for its accuracy, completeness or timeliness.
Your use of a third-party site or service is governed by that party’s own terms, not these Terms.
9. Disclaimers
The service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free, that any alert will be timely or complete, or that the information presented is accurate. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Held Accountable will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill or investment losses, arising out of or related to your use of the service.
Our total aggregate liability arising out of or related to these Terms will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or one hundred US dollars.
11. Termination
You may stop using the service and close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, if we are required to by law, or if we discontinue the service.
Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability and governing law — continue to apply after your account ends.
12. Governing Law & Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of [JURISDICTION], without regard to its conflict of law rules. The courts of [JURISDICTION] will have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, except where mandatory local law gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere.
Before starting formal proceedings, please contact us so we can try to resolve the issue informally.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. If the changes are significant, we will give you advance notice, such as an email or a notice in the service. Continuing to use the service after the changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
