Privacy Policy
Last updated: 28 August 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Held Accountable (“we”, “us”) collects, uses and shares information about you when you use our website and services. We have tried to keep it short and readable. If anything here is unclear, contact us using the details in section 9.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information you give us directly, information generated as you use the service, and a limited amount of technical information sent automatically by your device.
Information you provide
- Account details — your name, email address and the credentials you use to sign in.
- Profile and preferences — the topics, categories and delivery settings you choose.
- Content you submit — anything you enter into the service, including messages you send to our support team.
Information collected automatically
- Usage data — pages viewed, features used, and the dates and times of your activity.
- Device and connection data — browser type, operating system, general location inferred from your IP address, and similar technical identifiers.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information described above to:
- provide, operate and maintain the service, and to keep your account working;
- personalise what you see and send you the updates you have asked for;
- respond to your questions and provide customer support;
- understand how the service is used so we can improve it;
- detect, investigate and prevent fraud, abuse and security incidents; and
- comply with our legal obligations and enforce our terms.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use the content you submit for advertising.
4. Data Sharing & Third Parties
We share personal information only in the circumstances set out below, and only to the extent needed:
- Service providers — vendors who host our infrastructure, send our emails, process payments and provide analytics, acting on our instructions and under contract.
- Legal and safety — where we are required to by law, or where disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property or safety of our users, the public or us.
- Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, subject to the protections in this policy.
- With your direction — where you ask us to share information with someone else.
5. Data Security
We use technical and organisational measures designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit, access controls and regular review of our systems. We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy, or for as long as the law requires.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a breach affecting your information, we will notify you and the relevant regulators where the law requires it.
6. Your Rights & Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, port or restrict the use of your personal information, and to object to certain processing. You can also:
- update your account details and preferences at any time in your settings;
- unsubscribe from marketing email using the link in any message we send;
- ask us to delete your account and the data associated with it; and
- lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in section 9. We will respond within the period the law allows, and we will not treat you differently for making a request.
7. Children’s Privacy
The service is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age set by the law that applies to them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. If the changes are significant, we will give you additional notice, such as an email or a notice in the service, before they take effect.
